I’ve been coaching several people on career moves lately, and I find most of them have not taken the time to ask themselves, “What do I want?” and then feel the answer that is waiting to move them forward.
It sounds like the simplest of exercises, but making the time and committing to the beauty of solitude can be a monumental challenge when all you want is the answer for what to do next.
Like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, the answer is no further than “your own backyard.” But trusting that, getting in touch with the voice that speaks to you in silence, and listening to it, ahhhh, that’s the real move.
So, I ask you: are you on track? If yes, great! Skip ahead and enjoy this week’s content shares.
If no, block two hours, go to your favorite quiet space, do some relaxed breathing, and then ask yourself, “What do I want?”
Let the answer come to you. Don’t argue with it, don’t explain to yourself why it can’t work. Simply accept what you’ve revealed to yourself and build your path forward.
This Week’s Shares: Why’s, How’s and Change
- [Repeat from last edition because it’s so spot on…] Do you make room for silence? On this podcast, Pico Iyer talks about how he scaled his life down to the basics and substitutes sitting in silence for meditating. This resonated because I cannot seem to meditate but I can enjoy quiet time to be alone with my thoughts.
- You’ve heard of a near-death experience, but how about a shared-death experience? Fascinating stories shared by people who shared the dying experience with a loved one as they moved through the dying process. Not your everyday listen. Special thanks to Julie Meyers who first told me about the Telepathy Tapes podcast.
- The headline “Women’s Studies 101,” attracted my attention and the rest of the post delivered. So much to consider as we work together for equity for all.
- In case you missed it, people aged 65 and older now outnumber children aged 5 and under worldwide for the first time in recorded history. And we reached this tipping point sooner than predicted…
- It’s soup season again! Want to know favorites by state? I got cha’!
