Here are my shares to help you keep your focus on elevating yourself during these chaotic times, starting with a random act of kindness:

🥰 Kindness is Contagious, Let’s Pass it Around!

Do you have a story of kindness to share? Tell me about it, and I’ll share it here. If you want to share it confidentially, let me know and I’ll pass the story along but keep your identity a secret. 🤫

In the meantime, here’s one from me:

We put out a bunch of items we no longer wanted with a sign on our lawn that said, “Free Stuff.” Shortly afterwards, a van of painters working next door stopped by and the guys took a bunch of stuff. Yayyyy! A little while later my husband went outside to collect the items no one wanted, and sticking out under a rock was a letter from his dad! The guys had found it in a briefcase we’d put out and came back to make sure we found it. I was so moved that they realized we’d overlooked the letter and that they took the time to return it.

  • Last week I shared about “And” job titles. This week’s take on the concept is called quiet hiring. Have you experienced this? This from The Skimm offers advice for negotiating a promotion and raise, which could help turn quiet hiring into a win for you.
  • 🌟 Do Good Spotlight: It Gets Better Project 🌈 It’s Pride Month, so we’re celebrating love! The It Gets Better Project works to “uplift, empower, and connect lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) youth around the globe.” You may have heard about them through their TikTok campaigns, especially their “50 States. 50 Grants. 5,000 Voices.” initiative where they give students money to improve LGBTQ+ youth programs in their schools. Check them out, and learn more: It Gets Better Project.
  • Our left and right brain hemispheres “hear” language differently. New studies with mice open the door to better understanding for humans. For example, “Strikingly, the right hemisphere of people with autism seems to respond earlier to sound than the left hemisphere, echoing the accelerated right-side maturation we saw in our study on mice. Our findings suggest that this early dominance of the right hemisphere in encoding sound information might amplify its control of auditory processing, deepening the imbalance between hemispheres.”
  • Lots of buzz over the last few weeks about AI wiping out entry level jobs in knowledge-worker fields. Abhijit Bhaduri is talking about it too, but he’s got some great tips for what to do about it, focused on GenZ but there are applications for the rest of us, too.

Until Next Time…

There’s always time to take a breath.

Clear away what’s blocking you by taking in and releasing a few deep breaths. I’ll wait…and so will everything else…
