I am well into my life and was surprised to learn that while the Winter Solstice, December 21, is the shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere, it is not the day with the earliest sunset.

If you’re going, “Whaaaat?” (like I did) you’ll be surprised to know that the earliest sunset is more like December 6, 7, or 8 depending on your latitude. And here’s why from the Farmer’s Almanac.

Just thought I’d share ‘cause it’s fun to learn something new, especially when I thought I’d had that one nailed. 😊

🥰 Kindness is Contagious: Finding Strength in Your Flavor of Togetherness

Last Friday, a group of my neighbors decided to get together for happy hour. We’d never done it before and a bunch of people showed up. It was a great way to meet some of our neighbors, and it made me realize how valuable it is to expand our circles.

So I started thinking about ways even the shyest among us can find new people to connect with and came up with some ideas to share:

  • One of my friends is gathering small groups of people together locally to meet informally while doing crafts together. Can you find or create a group like this?
  • Some groups are free, others like this one from Power Pause charge a fee. (BTW, Power Pause is a weekly, 30-minute attunement sanctuary for “women who are holding and carrying a lot.” The next session begins Feb 25 for 6 weekly sessions).
  • Living Room Conversations helps individuals create events where people come together in person or online to discuss an issue using a carefully crafted “conversation guide” that fosters connection and understanding. It’s free for personal use and there are organizational (commercial) memberships available too.
  • Looking for business connections? The Connective is a virtual business connection organization of about 550 members who meet in virtual chapter meetings to talk business and try to make connections for each other. This one is $100/month.
  • And then there’s Meetup. Use this app to find activities by interest group in areas you select, like your home town or nearby cities.

So if you’re feeling the need to connect, energize, and share, embrace the urge and find your peeps!
