We’re all looking to optimize our lives and the lives of the people we care about in a world that none of us is wired for. How do you feel a sense of progress and accomplishment when so many are struggling just to tread water?

I don’t have all the answers, but I have a few suggestions that involve being honest with yourself, being honest with others, and committing to being adaptable.

Because embracing change and melding into it rather than complaining about it or, worse, resisting it, gets us nowhere.

So my shares this week are from smart people who are experimenting, questioning what they hold true, and sharing what they’re learning with the rest of us.

Here you go:

🦋 This Week’s Shares: Why’s, How’s and Change

  • Adam Craig advocates screaming into a pillow to keep anger from overwhelming you. Serious topic wrapped in a humorous and well-written post.
  • Did you know any of these stats? “…only 6% of respondents in a Deloitte survey of 22,500 millennials and Gen Zers across 44 countries aspire to leadership roles.” And “25% of leaders in a Gartner survey of 3,000 respondents would prefer not to manage people.” Wait, one more, “…in a survey of more than 3,000 people by Careerminds, one in three respondents reported turning down a promotion.” These stats and more in this from Fast Company (scroll down, it’s not the top story).
  • If you’re among the millions described above, maybe wildflowering is a better option for you and your employer. It’s a term borrowed from the world of dating applied to the world of work, and it’s a smart approach as we learn to work alongside AI. Instead of moving in one direction to grow, wildflowers leverage their unique skills to create room to add value and grow non-linearly. Here’s the link to the full article in Fast Company. (Thanks to Natalie Lorenzo for the share.)
