I saw Disclosure Day this weekend. If you know me, you know I’ve been an evangelist for the “we are not alone” school of thought since the age of 16 when I read Erich von Däniken’s Chariots of the Gods. The book posited humans were the results of what we’d now call DNA enhancements made by more advanced beings who visited the planet and are still here today.

Sharing that five years ago would have gotten bigger laughs than it does now as more of us are awakening to the probability that we’re not alone in the universe. In fact, according to a new CBS Poll, 63% of Americans believe intelligent life exists on other planets and 21% believe contact has already been made.

Disclosure Day does a great job of synthesizing what we do know into a narrative about how it can be revealed. I love the message about empathy being a core human strength.

I also wanted the movie to hit harder on the repercussions this revelation will have on the world: politics, religion, business, education…. Here’s a friend link to a discussion of Nietzsche’s famous “God is dead,” pondering that plays into this.

Where are you on the spectrum of accepting what you were told versus exploring what else could be? It’s heady stuff, and scary at first, but mind blowing in a good way, too.

  • Are you or your team beyond “burn out” and in the “rust out” zone? Fast Company has suggestions to refresh and re-engage, including “creating conditions for better thinking such as:
    • getting people out of digital environments and into real-world problem solving;
    • building experiences that require genuine collaboration under uncertainty;
    • creating intentional space for reflection—not just constant output, and
    • asking your team how they are. Then asking again, like you mean it. Being ready for the answer.”
