As the end-of-year approaches, things may get tense for all kinds of reasons, despite our best intentions to find joy.

Why not take a few minutes today to work your gratitude muscle. I guarantee you will find your mood lifted when you focus on what is going right while forgetting—for a little while—what isn’t optimal.

If this is extra challenging for you, reach out and we’ll schedule a few minutes together to find a pathway to gratitude for you.

In the meantime, I found some cool content to share with you this week:

🦋 Curated Shares

  • With Thanksgiving right around the corner, many people are anticipating challenging conversations with loved ones while gathered around the table. Jessica Stillman shares one question that scientists have proven will pave the way for better conversations. Use this gift link to read the entire piece on Medium.
  • Some people are confused about the definition of critical thinking. I like this post by PsychologyFocus. It starts with this, “The brain’s main goal is coherence, not accuracy.” It goes on to explain what we need to understand in order to re-examine what we believe to be true to gain a clearer understanding of any topic. Truly brilliant.
  • Writing for Harvard Business Review, Marlo Lyons shares advice for optimizing your promotion by truly letting go of your old job and embracing your new role. This gift link gets you the full article.
  • The holidays mean more time in the kitchen, which means more chances for fires. Check out these easy-to-use fire blankets from Prepared Hero.

🥰 Kindness is Contagious, Pass It Along!

  • I learned about this truly inspiring woman, Leila Janah, via a post shared by Linda Kagan. Leila Janah believed the world’s most untapped resource was the intellect of people in poverty, and she set about creating pathways to prosperity for people around the world. Instead of providing charitable contributions, she developed systems for creating jobs, taking the adage, “…If you teach someone to fish…” to whole new levels. Inspire your desire to do better by learning about what Leila Janah brought to the world.
  • Michael Piperno shared a personal experience of being kind, where he saw an opportunity to brighten someone’s day, and the Universe rewarded him very directly! (Scroll down, it’s in the “Kindness” portion of his post.)

🌟 Do Good Spotlight: Forest Bathing aka Shinrin-yoku

a trail through a green forest

For three Sundays in a row, I have purposefully found wooded areas to walk through or to forest bathe if you will. Everything you’ve heard about this easy way to focus and re-energize is true. If you can walk, you can forest bathe. The health benefits surpass walking anywhere else for lots of reasons, here are a few. Find some trees and get your walking shoes on. 🌳

Until Next Time…

Who’s your #1 BFF?

YOU are!

So please take good care of yourself — we’ve only got one of you in the whole world. No pressure!
